Play. And more play.
The Children's Centre provides opportunities for young children to act and
play in a stimulating environment, expressly designed for their stages of development.
The core of our programs is play. Play is the pleasurable, absorbing, necessary
and serious work of children, freely chosen by them and under their control.
Play develops physical and intellectual skills, promotes emotional health and
creativity and helps children learn to get along with others.
Frequently changes areas of exploration are the catalyst for learning -- but that is just
the beginning. Our teachers observe how the children respond to the material and constantly
adjust programming to fit each child's interests, needs and talents. Every learning opportunity --
and chance to have fun -- is captured.
The main objectives of our programs are:
- To increase independence and self confidence through an emphasis on self-selected activities and problem solving.
- To increase understanding and acceptance of oneself and others through many individual and group activities.
- To broaden and enrich the child's horizons through a variety of "learning by doing" activities.
