Welcome to The Children's Centre 2010-11 Program

We are busy getting ready for another exciting year at The Children's Centre.

If you are no longer able to attend this program in September, please let us know immediately - many of our programs have waiting lists and we would like to offer any available spaces to these waiting families. Parents wishing to withdraw are reminded that both the $25.00 registration fee and September's tuition fees are non-refundable.

We are still waiting for personal information and payments from a number of families, if you have not sent in required documents and payments please do so ASAP. To update registration information, contact Lynette Lawler at 738-1422 or netty@nf.sympatico.ca. For payments, contact Andy Aragon at aragonnfld@gmail.com.

IMPORTANT INFORMTATION FOR ALL PARENTS:
(please read before the start of the school year):

1) Parent and Child Orientation Day The first day of your child's program is an orientation day for you and your child. A parent or caregiver will be asked to remain with the child for the orientation session, which will take place over one-half the normal program time. This orientation will give parents and children an opportunity to meet teachers and help answer any questions about daily routines. The date and time of your particular session will be sent to you in a separate notice and phone call.

2) Volunteering at The Children's Centre There are still many volunteer positions available. As a parent run centre, all parents are expected to help in the running of the Centre through individual and group volunteering. If you have not volunteered for a committee yet or have not been awarded a volunteer position from our Volunteer Coordinator, please contact Amy Bishop 722-7039 or bishop_amy@hotmail.com.

More Important Information for Parents

*Snack Sign Up Sheet - Parents can find the snack Sign Up Sheet in the parent area of The Centre. We ask parents to pick a day to bring snack for all the children. This usually entails: a baked good, cheese, crackers, fruit and/or vegetables and a 2L juice or 2L milk or some other variation of this sort. Please make sure that all snacks healthy and are NUT and FISH FREE. Items that are not home baked must state on the package that it is made in a nut free facility. We have children in our program that have severe nut and fish allergies.

*Comfortable Clothes - All activities at the Children's Centre are play based and centred on your child's interest. Please dress them in comfortable play clothes that may get wet or dirty as your child explores their new environment.

*Change of Clothes - All children should have a full change of clothes at the centre - and extra diapers if your child is not toilet trained. Accidents can happen and staff want to make sure that your child is comfortable at all times.

*Sunscreen and Hats - All children should have a sun hat and sunscreen in their bag for sunny days of playing in the yard. Then extra mittens and a hat for the winter season!

*Comfortable Shoes - The backyard of The Children's Centre is covered with rocks. Summer sandals and crocs can be very uncomfortable for children when they are full of rocks. Sneakers are the best choice of outside play.

*Pick Up and Drop Off Times - Program hours are:
Preschool 1 & 2 Mornings 9:00 - 12:00
Preschool 1 & 2 Afternoon 1:30 - 4:30

PLEASE NOTE: Dropping off children too early and picking up too late can be troublesome for staff who are attempting to get the Centre ready for the next program, whether it be that afternoon or the following day. Please follow scheduled session time assigned to your child to allow for the best program possible for all children (and happy staff!).

*Information Pouches/Communication - Family pouches are located in the parent area of The Centre. Each family is assigned an information pouch. Please check it regularly for important information from staff and the Board of Directors. Important information is e-mailed to parents on a regular basis. We have learned that our mass e-mails can look like "spam" to many e-mail accounts, so please check your "spam" regularly.

Thank you for reading and adhering to this information. Please refer to our web site often for information updates - www.thechildrenscentre.com. We are very excited to start another full year at the Children's Centre.

Welcome!
